South African Cops Out Brutalize US Counterparts

The US media has been abuzz lately over the almost weekly incidents of police brutality caught on video by the general public. In New York City, on July 17, 2014, Eric Garner was killed by New York police, including officer Daniel Pantaleo who appeared in a video to be holding Garner in a choke hold.

Although the medical examiner ruled Garner’s death a homicide, a grand jury declined an indictment. Pantaleo was not charged.

And what terrible crime did Garner commit? He was charged with selling “loosies,” which are single cigarettes sold without the proper tax. (1) What does a single cigarette sans tax sell for? 20-25 cents?

For want of tax on a two-bit cigarette, Eric Garner, father of six, gave his life. Naahh! That doesn’t sound like police overkill to me. Clearly, it was justifiable homicide. We cannot have common criminals cheating the government out of 5 cents tax, now can we?

In South Carolina cops dispense with the choke holds and shoot unarmed motorists in the back, or at least that is what patrolman Michael Slager allegedly did last April 4, 2015.

Slager, who is white, pulled over African American motorist Walter Scott for a broken tail light, a capital crime if ever there was one. For some reason the confrontation escalated, Scott tried to flee, and Slager emptied eight rounds into Scott’s back.

It’s a good thing that Slager loaded up on hollow points the previous week. An officer needs all the fire power he can muster in these troubled times.

Here’s a pictorial showing the course of events:

The big question here is why did a simple traffic stop escalate into the death of a motorist? Slager said that Scott grabbed Slager’s taser at which point Slager “felt threatened.” Other pundits speculate that Scott was afraid of being arrested for an outstanding warrant for unpaid child support, making him behave in a threatening manner.

Perhaps Officer Slager simply woke up that day and decided to end someone. Slager appeared calm, cool and collected throughout the video, even nonchalant. Maybe he calmly looked Scott in the eye and said something like, “Run, (N-word) cuz I’m gonna kill ya.”

That would make me run. I’m handicapped and cannot run, but hearing those words from a crazed looking cop would make me run anyway.

In 1985 in Tennessee v. Garner, the U. S. Supreme Court ruled that the Fourth Amendment permits police to shoot at a fleeing suspect only when he “poses a threat of serious physical harm, either to the officer or to others.” (2) That, of course, or a broken brakelight. It’s a little known codicil to the Court’s decision that Police can shoot you if you have a broken brakelight.

Despite all of the hullabaloo about the violent behavior of U.S. police officers, the USA is no where near the worst in the world when you compare police violence.

Compare U.S. police escapades to that of their South African counterparts and the U.S. cops simply pale by comparison. Mido Macia would undoubtedly confirm that statement, if he were still alive that is.

Emidio Josias Macia, known as Mido, was a Mozambican immigrant to South Africa and a taxi driver who was killed near Johannesburg while in the custody of the South African Police Service (SAPS) on February 26, 2013. (3) The manner in which Mido came to be in police custody and part of the cause of his death were captured on video.

Watch the following video only if you have a strong stomach, cuz it ain’t pretty. NSFW:

The brazenness of the SAPS in this video is remarkable. They had to know that at least one person in the large crowd of onlookers would be filming their brutality, yet they deliberately tortured the man to death anyway.

Just how did the Police justify their behavior? They claimed that Macia had caused a traffic jam and then resisted arrest. (4) Well, that explains it then. Case closed.

Macia was found dead hours after his dragging in a police holding cell, lying half dressed in a pool of blood. (5) Half dressed means he was discovered sans trousers even though the video shows him wearing what appeared to be blue jeans at the time of his “arrest.”

A second autopsy that was ordered after the first autopsy, which was a typical whitewash, blamed Mido’s death on a jailhouse fight. The second autopsy stated that Macia died of hypoxia, which is a lack of oxygen, “but he also sustained deep cuts to his arms, possibly in an attempt to defend himself, and there were bruises over his body, his face and his genitals. Almost all of his internal organs were damaged, and he had suffered bleeding around his brain.” (6)

See how creative the SAPS are? They don’t rely on the old tried and true to eliminate their victims. Any number of Macia’s injuries might have eventually killed him, so the SAPS left nothing to chance. Very thorough, those SAPS lads.

Compare that to South Carolina’s Officer Slager, who dispatched Walter Scott with eight rounds to the back. No creativity there.

A British newspaper, The Guardian, reported that during a recent five year period a total of 11,880 criminal cases were opened with the South African Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID). This resulted in just 2,576 prosecutions and 129 convictions‚ meaning that only 1% of criminal cases opened against police officials ended in a conviction. (7)

That 1% probability of any penalty would explain the SAPS’ brazenness in the Macia case. Why not do the crime if you know you won’t do the time?

And what has happened in the two + years since Macia’s death? Nine SAPS have been charged, and the trial has been postponed and postponed again. The latest trial date is set for July 2015. What do you want to bet it will be delayed again?

U.S. cops have a long way to go to catch up with the vile violence of their South African counterparts, but don’t sell our boys and girls in blue short. Yankee ingenuity has won out in the past.

Now all of you American cops get busy and start offing the public.

Nasty Dude Urinates on Drug Store Cough Drops – Caught on Video

A big, scary nasty dude is caught on CCTV video urinating on Walgreens drug store cough drops right out in the open. The public urination appears to have occurred around 10:30 PM local time in Sanford, Florida.

Be careful buying cough drops in Sanford, Florida, although the police have apprehended the alleged desparado and identified him as Larry Donell White Jr., who was arrested after Sanford police received a tip from someone who saw the story on the news.

White allegedly caused $301 in damage by choosing the drug shelves for relieving himself ruining about 100 packages of cough drops in the process. White was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and culpable negligence.

It seems that White refused to inform the police why he chose to urinate when and where he did. Maybe he just had to go?

Mother Throws Newborn Baby into Snowbank

21-year-old Ashley Couch allegedly threw her newborn baby into the snow in Minneapolis Saturday morning and then left her there in 12 degree temperatures. The baby was only 18 days old at the time and still had a newborn hospital tag on her toe.

Keith St. Pierre was getting off a bus Saturday morning when he saw a woman throw her baby into the snowbank and run away.

St. Pierre quickly crossed the street and picked up the newborn infant. The girl, whose skin was red, was cold to the touch and would not wake up, St. Pierre told police officers who responded to the scene. He rubbed her chest for about 10 seconds until she eventually responded. He then wrapped the baby in his jacket while calling 911.

St. Pierre was so excited when he dialed 911 that the police dispatcher hung up on him calling him hysterical. He again called 911 remaining calm enough to induce the dispatcher to send a squad car to his location.

At that time Ashley Couch, the baby’s mother, returned to claim her child. According to a police report, Couch was angry at her newborn’s father when she allegedly threw the baby.

‘I can’t believe you did that to my baby!’

Police stated that Couch allegedly chased her baby’s father down a street Saturday and, when she caught up to him, allegedly threw their newborn girl into a snowbank.

“I can’t believe you did that to my baby!” the child’s father repeatedly screamed at Couch as police arrived at the scene at about 8 a.m. Saturday.

Police stated that the child’s father was upset and crying. He reportedly told officers that Couch had “slammed” their baby into the snow bank, the police complaint said.

It is not clear from the police report why the father did not intervene to care for the baby after the incident.

Couch told police officers at the scene that the baby’s father took some money from her and fled their home. She told them that she grabbed the baby and a blanket, chasing him down the street.

She claimed that when she caught him, she pushed him and the baby fell out of her hands into the snow bank, according to the police complaint. However, Couch’s version of what happened differs markedly from what Keith St. Pierre said he saw and from what a second witness also saw.

The baby was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. Doctors said she was lethargic with cool skin and a body temperature of 95.8 degrees. They placed the child in an incubator treating her for hypothermia, and she recovered.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office on Tuesday charged the mother, Ashley Renee Couch, with child endangerment and child neglect, which are both gross misdemeanors.

The Hennepin County Attorney also states the baby has no lasting problems and is now in protective foster care.

Shooter Jared Loughner Mug Shot and Video That Got Him Suspended

Prior to obtaining his 15 minutes of fame, Jared Lee Loughner, the alleged gunman in the Tuscon, Arizona, shooting that left Representative Gabrielle Giffords in a hospital fighting for her life, shot a video last Fall on the campus of Pima Community College.

The video portions are innocuous enough, but the audio portion of the vid scared Pima College authorities enough to suspend Loughner indefinitely.

The video portion merely depicts the college campus including a shot of the local police station. On the audio portion Loughner denigrates the police station saying “This is where the whole shaboozie goes down with illegal activity.”

Loughner begins his audio diatribe by saying, “We’re examining the torture of students. We’re looking at students who have been tortured.”

Loughner shouts out to someone in the dark, “How’s it going? Thanks for the B–I’m pissed off.”

The man responds, “What’s that?”

After the brief exchange of words, Loughner laughs out loud for some time, finally saying, “I lost my freedom of speech to that guy.”

Soon Loughner starts the monologue that probably got him suspended from school, “This is what happens. I’m in a terrible place.”

“This is my genocide school…where I’m going to be homeless because of this school.”

The genocide remark would scare any school official, especially in these violent days.

As he wanders into the cafeteria Loughner says, “This is Pima Community College, one of the biggest scams in America…The students are so illiterate it affects their daily lives.”

As he wanders past the bookstore Loughner says, “They’re controlling the grammar. They control the grammar.”

Later he says, “All the teachers that you have are being paid illegally. This is genocide in America.”

Finally Loughner signs off saying, “Thank you. This is Jared from Community College.”

Despite the rambling, incoherent nature of some of Loughner’s monologue, it is for the most part little worse than what you will find on millions of blogs or video sites on the Internet. If Loughner had not said the words “genocide” or “torture,” he probably would not have been suspended from school because of this video.

If Loughner had not been so short sighted to go on his violent rampage, this video would be of no interest to anyone. So how do we know, in the future, which videos posted to YouTube are from madmen like Loughner rather than from just a somewhat confused youth?

Autistic Boy Gang Beaten, Robbed, Kidnapped

A 16-year-old Saint Paul, MN, boy with autism was gang beaten, handcuffed, robbed, kidnapped and finally shot in the face with a bb gun at point blank range by three adults and two teens.

Tiffany Ann Clock, 21, Anthony Martin Ramos, 24, and Trenton Eugene Johnson, 22, were each charged with one count of aggravated first-degree robbery and kidnapping for the purpose to terrorize. Two other defendants in the case, ages 17 and 15, were likewise charged in juvenile court.

The 16-year-old victim remains unidentified to protect him.

One of the teens lured the victim to a secluded area where the five surprised the victim and then took turns repeatedly punching, beating and knocking down the disabled boy. They also stole his CD player, camera, phone and money.

While beating him the five were also telling him they knew where he lived and would “return and hurt him and his family” according to the criminal complaint on file at the Ramsey County courthouse.

Anthony Ramos allegedly then shot the victim in the cheek and the left side of his head with a BB gun at point blank range. After a few more threats to his family, the group then reportedly “made the victim run around in circles and laugh out loud” according to the complaint.

The five finally left their victim face down in the snow bleeding. The complaint states that he told police that “up until he was shot with the BB gun he thought the gun was a real gun and he thought he would die.”

The following video is a local media report of the incident:

“This was an outrageous attack on a most vulnerable victim. This office will prosecute these cases vigorously,” said Ramsey County Attorney John Choi.

Each felony count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. No word is available on the condition of the 16-year-old victim.

Shootout In Waco – Caught on Video

Two armed robbers try to rob a tobacco store in Waco, Texas, but the shop owner has a different idea in mind, as he casually shoots it out with the crooks. Best of all, the action is caught on the tobacco store surveillance camera. In the above photo, the desperados’ hand guns are highlighted in yellow.

Watch the video and you will see that Amar Kayeh, the owner of the Fiesta Smoke Shop, is one tough merchant.

The action begins when Amar and a store employee are minding the store shortly after Midnight on Wednesday morning.

Two armed robbers suddenly burst into the store with guns drawn and point them at Kayeh and his clerk, who are behind the counter. The crooks demand money and cigarettes, which Kayeh readily hands over.

“I knew what they wanted really so I opened up the cash register right away and waited for my chance to shoot them.” Kayeh says. He keeps a loaded revolver hidden behind the counter.

The robbers were evidently aware that he kept a gun because he says they continually insisted that he hand it over to them. “I was just trying to avoid the question, so every time he asked, I said take some cigarettes, take some money over here.”

As the marauders attempt to make their getaway the shooting begins. Amar believes one of the perps was shot, but he and his clerk are uninjured.

Kayeh says that during the shootout, “he was only in his zone,” and he was not frightened during the shooting.

Why did he take the risk and fight back? “He wanted to teach the bandits a lesson,” says Amar. This is not the first time his store was robbed, and this robbery is only the latest in a string of robberies plaguing Waco convenience stores.

Says Amar, “I don’t want to be no easy bait…If you don’t shoot them, every day you have somebody come in here trying to rob you. I just wanted to make an example out of them.”

Amar is leaving the bullet holes just as they are as a warning to other would be robbers.

Body in Suitcase Dumped on NY Street – Caught on Video

In East Harlem New York at around 11pm Tuesday night a man is caught on video on a dimly lit street wheeling a suitcase behind him. Unknown to other people on the street the strangled, limp body of 28-year-old Betty Williams of the Bronx is crammed inside the suitcase.

The man apparently waits on the sidewalk until people who had gathered near Rao’s clear the area. Once he seems to believe no one is looking, the suspect casually drops the suitcase off near the trash waiting for collection at 435 East 114th Street, which is about four doors down from the well-known Rao’s restaurant. He then makes his escape by simply walking away.

The above photo shows the man who dumped the suitcase. The police are certain that the man in this photo and in the video is also the murderer. They are asking the public to keep an eye out for this man and call 911 if they see or know him.

The first video is short and to the point–just the vid itself:

The second video is a more in depth report by the Associated Press:

The suitcase was found by someone rummaging through the trash early the next morning. It is difficult to imagine one’s surprise upon discovering the body inside.

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly told CBS 2′s reporter, Pablo Guzman, “Our investigative premise [is] that the body was brought there and left at that location, rather than the murder happening in the immediate vicinity.”

Residents also believe that the suspect is not be from around the neighborhood.

“My husband works at the restaurant. You have this, you know, very busy restaurant. No way that he was walking up here; I think he just got scared and dropped it,”said Shelby Kimber, a longtime resident of East Harlem.

Upon hearing about the murder, Frederic Larrieu, who had recently relocated to the neighborhood, said it was a complete shock to him.

“Yeah, you see it in the movies. A lady in a suitcase? You kidding me? What kind of guy can do that,” said Larrieu.

What kind indeed?

Purse Snatchers Meet Vigilante Justice – Caught on Video

Two purse snatchers in Wenzhou, China, are meted out a dose of vigilante justice after the street turns alive with would-be Sir Galahads who pummel and beat the purse snatchers with sticks, furniture and anything else that happens to be handy.

In the photo below two men on a motorcycle are approaching a female pedestrian holding her purse in her left hand as she walks down the street. Inside the area highlighted in yellow you can see the passenger on the motorcycle is reaching out to grab the pedestrian’s purse.

Immediately after the purse is snatched the motorcycle turns the corner with the two men still aboard clutching the victim’s purse. The men speed off and that should have been the end of it, a perfect crime with a clean getaway–almost.

Something occurs around the corner out of the camera’s field of view that spoils the thieves’ getaway. People begin appearing from everywhere and nowhere rushing to the victim’s aid.

Soon the street is literally filled with vigilantes intent upon rectifying the theft. The thieves are chased back into view of the camera by what has become an angry mob of vigilantes.

One of the thieves, who was dubbed “Bold Gangster” and “Diabolical Gangster” by the Chinese blogosphere, brandishes a knife with a near 20 inch (50 cm) blade, swinging at any vigilante who dares come near him.

Despite the danger of the “Bold Gangster’s” weapon, the mob surges ahead subduing the robbers, who eventually disappear off camera.

Chinese bloggers have been hailing the vigilantes as heroes and bestowing upon them such monikers as “Broom Man,” “Stool Man” and “Cardboard Box Man” depending upon their choice of weapon to help subdue the crooks.

This remarkable demonstration of solidarity by the Chinese people of Wenzhou proves that today’s Chinese people bear character that Americans can only wish for. Compare this incident with a recent incident in New York City during which pedestrians ignored and stepped around a man dying on the sidewalk (Passersby Ignore Good Samaritan Dying on NYC Sidewalk – Video).

China is clearly a nation of the future, and the US will be an also-ran nation unless Americans somehow manage to heal some serious character flaws.

Passersby Ignore Good Samaritan Dying on NYC Sidewalk – Video

A homeless Good Samaritan, Hugo Tale-Yax, who rushed to the aid of a woman being assaulted on a New York City sidewalk last week, paid the ultimate price for his good deed when he was stabbed to death by the assailant.

While he lay on the sidewalk dying, over two dozen pedestrians casually strolled by either unaware or unconcerned of his condition or situation.

Tale-Yax lay face down, unmoving, on the sidewalk outside an apartment building for about an hour with blood profusely pooling underneath his body. Pedestrian after pedestrian passed by without lifting a hand to help him.

One used his cell phone to take a photo of him, while another did attempt to turn him over. But no one called 911 until it was too late.

Police believe that the woman knew her assailant, which is possibly why she has not come forward.

Robber Asks Victim Out on Date – Video

Stephfon Bennett of Columbus, Ohio, must be one hopelessly romantic son of a gun. Either that or he is so full of himself that he assumes women can not resist his charms.

The question is do his charms consist of a boyish grin and a sparkling wit, or instead do they comprise just the business end of a Saturday night special?

You see, it seems that 20-year-old Stephfon and two accomplices allegedly robbed Diana Martinez and her friend late last Sunday night on the North side of Columbus and they did point a gun at Diana’s head in the process.

But that is the ordinary part of our tale, if you can call having a pistol pointed at your head ordinary. The extraordinary part is that two hours after the robbery, Stephfon returned to the scene of the crime and asked Diana out on a date.

Quick thinker that Diana is, she asked her cousin to call the police while she talked to Stephon, stalling him until police arrived. And arrive they did, arresting Stephfon right in front of the house on charges of aggravated robbery.

“We are not exactly sure what he was thinking at the time,” said Columbus police Sgt. Sean Laird. “It’s never happened, in my eight years and some months. I’ve never had anything like this before.”

Stephfon’s yearning for love has landed him a home in the Franklin County jail in lieu of $92,000 bail, and maybe he will also receive a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s most naive robber.

Did he believe that he looked rather dashing and impressive as he held his pistola to Diana’s temple, so much so that he assumed that he stole her heart in that one fleeting moment? Why else would he have returned to the scene of the crime to parlay his freedom for one solitary chance at love?

The following video is a TV news report on the incident:

Stephfon must be one optimistic Romeo, or is he so hubristic that he cannot imagine any woman turning down an offer of love with the Stephfon Bennett?

Is it possible he had recently watched the movie Bonnie and Clyde, and did he picture Diana as Bonnie Parker and himself as Clyde Barrow? Did he believe she would drop her life to run off and live with him as 21st century desperadoes on the lam?

And what do his accomplices in crime think as they, in total shock, watch the details of Stephon’s folly on TV? Are they bright enough to realize that Stephfon is right now making a deal for a shorter prison sentence in exchange for providing their names and location to the police?

Aah! The folly of young love never ceases to amaze.
