Shark Attacks Surfer Mick Fanning During Jennings Bay Open – Video

A shark attacked Australian surfer Mick Fanning during the Jennings Bay Open Sunday in South Africa while he was waiting his turn to surf. Three time world champion Fanning was sitting atop his board when suddenly the water around him started thrashing. According to Fanning the shark had grabbed his leg rope or leash and started pulling it downward, which certainly must have scared Fanning.

The second video adds two announcers describing the action as the shark attacks. Later in the video another announcer interviews Fanning after the attack.

Two Sharks Gang Attack Surfer - Video

Imagine you are surfing the waves at the famous Nahoon Reef on the East coast of South Africa near East London. The surf at Nahoon Reef is legendary as is the swimming at Nahoon Beach, which is merely a stone’s throw away. The uncrowded pristine sands of Nahoon Beach stretch on for kilometer after kilometer, and the sea at Nahoon is clear and unpolluted. This is an ocean paradise for both swimmer and surfer alike, and the remarkable waves at Nahoon Reef are so exhilarating and challenging that top surfers flock here to ride the waves.

Suddenly, two great white sharks attack you simultaneously. The attacks are so coordinated that you are convinced that the sharks are working together because how could such an attack be just coincidence?

You believe that the sharks are attracted to the shiny dark color of your wet suit, which may make you appear like a seal to the sharks. Great whites often come to Nahoon Reef to dine on sardines and seals, so today you are merely one more meal for the sharks.

The first shark knocks you off your surfboard and into the air. As you splash back into the surf, the same shark bites into your right hand pulling you under the surf toward the bottom of the ocean floor. Ocean predators, such as great whites and killer whales, often use this tactic on seals to drown them.

Meanwhile the second shark makes a move for your head and shoulders. The sharks’ movements appear so choreographed that you cannot believe that this attack is really two separate independent assaults rather than a planned gang attack. Only the sharks know for sure and, naturally, they aren’t talking.

Of course this attack never happened to you, but it did happen to Shannon Ainslie, who often surfs Nahoon Reef with his brother Brandon.

Watch the video to learn how Shannon survived this remarkable exploit:

Photograph Shows Shark in wave among surfers

A San Diego photographer took a photo of what appears to be a shark inside a wave with surfers all around it. At all times the surfers were unaware of the shark’s presence, and no one was attacked.

Photographer Gary Elliot took the snapshot while taking pictures of the high surf off Encinitas, California, which is near San Diego. Elliot did not even realize what a rare photo he had until he examined the shots on his home computer.

Marine biologist Marcelo Szpilman writing about the photo says, “I cannot say exactly what it is, but it sure is not a white shark, because the shape of the caudal fin is different.”

Of course, it might easily be some type of shark other than a great white.

Two Great White Sharks both attack a surfer at the same time almost making it seem like it was a planned gang attack.

Brothers Shannon and Brandon Ainslie often surf at famous Nahoon Reef off the coast of East London, South Africa. Nahoon Reef abuts Nahoon Beach, which is both a surfing and swimming paradise. The beach boasts kilometers of uncrowded and unpolluted sand and sea, and Nahoon Reef produces some remarkable waves, making surfing both exhilarating and somewhat of a challenge. High level surfers naturally flock there.

This one sunny day two great white sharks decided to make a meal of brother Shannon.

Great whites often come to Nahoon Reef to dine on seals and sardines, but these two great whites actually appeared to work together to dine on Shannon, who was surfing in a dark wet suit, which could easily make him look like a seal to the sharks.

The first shark knocked Shannon off of his surfboard and into the air. When he fell back into the surf, the first shark took a bite of his right hand pulling him under the surf toward the bottom of the ocean floor at the same time.

Not to be outdone, the second shark made a move for Shannon’s head and shoulders. Watch the video for the thrilling conclusion of this remarkable tale.

Oh No! Someone stole the video! But I found another copy. Check it out on my updated page.

What an incredibly lucky man Shannon Ainslie was.

Surfer Tossed Like Rag Doll by Tropical Storm Fay – Videos

Emergency officials warned everyone to find shelter during Tropical Storm Fay, but perhaps a Fort Lauderdale man decided that the warning did not apply to him.

26-year-old Kevin Kearney was thrill seeking while kite surfing in the rough surf off Fort Lauderdale beach Monday when Tropical Storm Fay decided to take Kearney for a ride.

A strong gust of wind from Fay hurtled down the beach and caught Kearney and his kite by surprise.

The wind slammed Kearney into the sandy beach, and then just as quickly picked him up again dragging him across the beach, across the street and then smashed him into the side of a nearby building.

It was almost as if the storm had a mind of its own and decided to punish the kite surfer for daring to surf while Fay was in town.

Said WFOR Engineer Anthony Romano who was nearby filming the wrath of the storm, “I’m surprised he didn’t get hit by a car because we have (highway) A1A right here. I think it was a miracle that he just flew over the street and into the thing.”

WFOR photographer Yuseith Osorio thought that Kearney was carried away by a forming waterspout. “Basically, we were getting ready to go live and I saw something forming up in the sky. I told Pete, ‘Hey, careful, something’s forming.'”

Witnesses to the event quickly ran to aid the injured Kearney, who lay on the ground crumpled up and in pain. Paramedics soon arrived at the scene and transported Kevin to Broward General Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. Kevin’s friends insist he will make a full recovery.

Kearney’s family released a statement saying, “Kevin is an experienced kite-boarder and an all around great guy. We ask that you keep Kevin in your prayers and respect our privacy.”

Kearney was harnessed into his sail but the harness does have emergency releases. But it is possible that everything happened so fast that he had no time to think about releasing the harness.

The first video is an initial report of the kite dragging:

The second video is an updated report by the same TV station.

Redneck Car Surfing Videos

It is car surfing and it is huge on Of course, it is not the brightest young men who are doing it. You might say kids with the classic redneck mentality are the ones who embrace it.

Yes sir! I am going to get myself a $35,000 vehicle, saddle myself with $600 monthly payments, and then I am going to foolishly crash that truck into a phone pole. This is so much fun! Why didn’t I think of this before?

Perhaps once this genius realizes the error of his ways, he will steal someone else’s vehicle to use for such pranks. However, that will not pay for his hospitalization expenses. Hopefully, he has good insurance.

Below is another genius car surfer reportedly driving at 70 mph.

Well, at least that one survived and didn’t even crash. Who knows how he braked the vehicle.

Here is one more, and this one is slightly safer, but still very dangerous. I guess boys will be boys.

Notice how the license plate is clearly visible in all of the videos. An enterprising police officer could quite easily go after these young men, if he wanted.

Surfer Dude Graffiti

Dude! That poor builder. Doesn’t even get his building built and the “dudes” are already marking it up. That has to be frustrating, but I have heard that modern construction materials are now designed to make removing graffiti a lot easier.

Of course, that makes it that much more enticing to post graffiti jabs at our dear Paris Hilton. Speaking of the Parisian, she is due to report for her incarceration in short order. It was reported in the media that one of the paparazzi rented a room with a window overlooking the small window in the jail cell that Paris is scheduled to be assigned to. It is unclear whether there is any truth to the report, but it makes perfect sense.

A photo of the Paris inside her new habitat would probably fetch a very pretty penny from the tabloids. Now that the report has hit the wires, the authorities will probably transfer her to a different cell to frustrate the photogs.

You can be sure that if any photos surface, you will hear about them here.
